 Set to be huge

Review of Ocean Eyes
By Hannah

‘Ocean Eyes’ is the first album to be released by the electro-pop one man band that is Owl City in the UK, and is set to be huge after the massive success of lead single ‘Fireflies’, which went all the way to the No. 1 spot in the UK.

While the album is electro-pop, you’d be forgiven for thinking it would all sound the same, but the album has an unexpected mix of up tempo and down tempo tracks. From the upbeat disco of ‘Umbrella Beach’ to the more delicate and subtle ‘Vanilla Twilight’, which you can imagine being played in an episode of ‘90210’or ‘The Hills’.

The standout track is definitely lead song ‘Fireflies’, with its starry-eyed lyrics that create the vision of a dream like world that only you have access to, you can see why the track eventually managed to clinch the no.1 spot after sitting at no.2 for two weeks.

If the success of ‘Fireflies’ is anything to go by, Owl City are definitely going to be big in the coming year, but does he have the longevity to go all the way?
