Welcome to the Walk Alone - Review

Trumpets. Not the most commonly used instrument in bands today. But Rumble Strips pride themselves in their excellent trumpeting (it's a technical term).

They're from Tavistock... which I think reflects in their music, but maybe i'm reading to much into it. Girls and Weather was their first album to be officially released. It packs more energy than a kid on blue smarties, and is one of those albums that doesn't get old. It's a classic.

The best track on the album is by far Girls and Boys In Love (featured in Run Fatboy Run). It oozes happiness. The piano gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and immediately puts a smile on my face.

I don't really think you can compare such an unusual band from the mainstream. They're sort of like the love child of the Maccabees and Mumford and Sons. Which goes to show how talented these lads really are. Charlie Waller (formerly of Vincent Vincent and the Villains and now the Rumble Strips lead singer) has a very unique voice. You can tell he has been influenced by Adam and the Ant, they have a similar shouty, yet beautiful, singing voice that really separates them from anyone else.

You'll have probably heard the band's first single, Motorcycle, which was released twice. It's a classic track with such a summery vibe. And this carries on through the rest of the album. You can't be unhappy when Rumble Strips are about.

If they've been remixed by David E.Sugar and Hot Chip... they're good enough for me.
